Ngahere-o-Taiohi is a Youth Development Programme created to nurture and empower young people aged 15–24 who are not currently engaged in education, training or employment, or who are experiencing complex barriers that are preventing engagement, progression or transformation.
Our vision is for every taiohi to strengthen their identity, discover a sense of purpose and belonging, build resilience and capability, and achieve the goals that matter to them.
That might mean gaining a driver licence, returning to education, entering tertiary study or training, securing employment, or developing the confidence and capability to start a business.

WEEKS OF PROGRAMME DELIVERY
Followed by a further 26 weeks of post-placement wrap-around support.
Ngahere-o-Taiohi is for young people aged 15–24 who are not currently in work, education or training, or who are facing barriers that are making progress difficult.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with five hours together each day.

Outdoor activities, learning modules, practical life skills, workshops, wānanga and real-world experiences.

The Expression of Interest is a first step. It is not a formal referral or enrolment.

Expression of Interest
Taiohi, whānau or a support person shares their interest through the form below.

Initial Contact + Whānau Engagement
The Ahu team makes contact and begins the kōrero with taiohi and whanau.

Information Hui
Taiohi, whānau and support networks meet the team, learn about the programme and ask pātai.

Self-referral
Eligible taiohi who want to continue can move into the formal referral process.

Wānanga
Assessment models, an individual survey and individual plan development help shape the journey.

The evening will include a presentation, whakawhānaungatanga and shared kai.
